Sepultura, after 12 long years, the band split up. Atleast one of them left, Max. Frontman and singer of the group decided to go his own way. This left the rest of the band with a big decision to make. What to do now?
Instead of freaking out and just doing what they felt was right then, they waited and took things slow. They knew this would ensure they made the right choice. So they decided that they would keep the band, aquiring a new singer, Derrick Green.
So after having a long history of some of the hardest music of the 20th century, Sepultura came to an end, only for a short period of before starting all over again with a new, clean slate. The band not sure if they should keep the name Sepultura, pondered the thought for quite some time. Igor Cavalera says, "We didnít even know if we would use the name Sepultura. We decided that we would write a few songs first, and if it didnít sound like anything resembling Sepultura, then we would stop using the name right away. But once we had a few songs, we saw that we were justified in keeping the name. And the more we played, the more comfortable we felt. Our only relief during this whole time was playing music."
So approaching the new millenium, with a new singer, a new style of music, and a relatively new image. Sepultura are not giving up, and fans all over are happy to hear that. Bringing their aggresiveness to every show, the band is devoted to their music. Their first release after Max left, Against, displays their new style, somewhat resembling the old Sepultura, but still having that edge that we never heard from them before keeps them on top once again.
